Music at Holy Trinity

Music is held in high regard by Lutherans, especially at Holy Trinity.  Martin Luther called music “an excellent gift of God.”  The congregation supports an active music program.

Ensembles

Cherub Choir

The Cherub Choir is a choir for pre-readers, generally ages potty-trained through 1st grade.  This group will learn basic rhythm and melody skills and learn to echo a leader’s voice.  They will sing in worship about twice per semester.  Rehearsals are Thursdays from 4:30-5.

Joyful Noise Choir

The Joyful Noise Choir is for 2nd through 5th grade students.  They focus on fundamentals of reading music, some basic sight-singing and solfege (singing on do, re, mi), and use Orff instruments and percussion.  In addition, choristers learn liturgical responses, the flow of a Sunday morning liturgy, and how to navigate through a hymnal.  Joyful Noise will lead worship 2-3 times each semester.  Rehearsals are Thursdays from 5:15-6:00.

Youth Choir

The Youth Choir, for grades 6 through 12, rehearses on Sundays from 4:00-5:00pm.

Adult Choir

This group, an SATB choir for adult singers (high school and up) of all skill levels, rehearses weekly on Wednesdays.  The group alternates between the 8:30 and 11:00 services and sings a wide variety of music.  All are welcome to join, regardless of musical background, and whether or not you are able to commit to weekly attendance.   Rehearsals are Wednesday nights, 7:00-8:30pm.

Instrumentalists

A group of instrumentalists, generally consisting of piano, guitar, bass, and percussion, leads the 8:30 Sunday service.  Rehearsals are Sundays at 8:00am.

Instruments

Holy Trinity’s music is led by a 7’ Mason & Hamlin model BB and Casavant opus #3507. A stoplist for the Casavant is available here.
