Adopted May 2009

An endowment fund is a permanent fund where only the interest or earnings can be spent. At Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Chapel Hill, NC there are two endowment funds: Holy Trinity Lutheran Church Endowment Fund and UNC Lutheran Campus Ministry Fund, You can give to both or one of the funds to provide a future legacy for the ministry. The income from the endowment funds is used for special ministries beyond the operating budgets, The principal is never spent.
Gifts to the endowments can include cash, bonds, real estate, life insurance, IRA’s, retirement funds, securities, and memorial gifts, These assets can be gifted through a will or trust.
Contributions can occur in many ways and can have a tax advantage. All gifts are appreciated and can be kept confidential to the extent of the wishes of the gift giver.
When it comes to planned giving, there are many options. If you are retired, a charitable gift annuity can yield tax deductions and pay you income for the rest of your life.
